Trabzon

Çorum-Amasya

DAY 1: ISTANBUL

DAY 2: ISTANBUL – SAPANCA LAKE – BOLU – ANKARA / 440 KM
After breakfast departure to Ankara, stop at Bolu for lunch, we continue our way to Ankara, accommodation and dinner at hotel in Ankara.
DAY 3: ANKARA -HATTUSAS- YAZLIKAYA – AMASYA / 370 km
Breakfast, short panoramic tour of Ankara, the capital of Turkey, visit Atatürk Mausoleum, Hacı Bayram Mosque, continue the trip to Hattusa -Yazlikaya Archaeological site Hattusa, former capital of the Hittite Empire, is notable for its urban organization, preserved (temples, royal residences, fortifications), the rich ornamentation of the Lion Gate and the Royal Gate, and the Yazılıkaya rock art ensemble.
The city enjoyed considerable influence in Anatolia and northern Syria in the second millennium BC. The biggest attractions are the fortress and the rock-cut tombs of the Pontic kings (3rd century BC), mosques and Islamic theological seminaries from the Ottoman and Seljuk periods (13th-15th centuries), as well as the complex of traditional houses. Departure to Amasya, the birthplace of the famous geographer Strabo (ca. 63 BC – 25 AD). By tradition, the Amasya were educated and prepared to take over the responsibilities of the state from the heirs (sehzade) before becoming sultans. Amasya is also a milestone in the history of modern Turkey. Here, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his faithful companions prepared and telegraphed throughout the Amasya Circular, the first written document that set in motion the Turkish War of Independence. DAY 4: AMASYA – TRABZON / 450 km

DAY 5: TRABZON – SÜMELA MONASTERY / (or optional BATUMI TUR)
After breakfast departure to Trabzon, a city located on the Black Sea, one of the great cities of Turkey, due to the rainy climate even in summer, the landscape is dominated by green forests and mountains, rich in rivers and vegetation.
As a historical curiosity, the chronicles of the time attest to the fact that the Arabs saw peanuts here for the first time. In the ninth century, Turkish armies took control of the Trabzon region, while Greek settlers still lived in these lands. One of the most beautiful vestiges of long gone times is the Sümela Monastery, built in the fourth century, in a beautiful natural setting, on a promontory of a valley in Maçka, just 50 km away from Trabzon.
Tradition mentions that the monastery was built in 386 by two Greek monks, Sophronius and Barnabas, after they found an icon of the Virgin Mary in one of the mountain caves, which led them to settle there. The Ataturk mansion, built in the 19th century, by a wealthy banker, Konstantinos Kappagianidis, is an example of European architecture typical of that era, you also have the opportunity to visit the Church of St. Sofia from Trabzon.
Optional BATUMI – GEORGIA “Pearl of the Black Sea” is located in the autonomous republic of Adjara. European architects undertook numerous projects in Batumi in the early twentieth century. Batumi has a humid subtropical climate, the climate of the city is strongly influenced by the Black Sea and is subject to the orographic effect of the nearby hills and mountains, which leads to significant rainfall for most of the year, making Batumi the wettest city in Georgia, as well as the entire Caucasus.
Batumi is home to the largest aquarium in the former USSR and the largest botanical garden in Georgia (it is also one of the largest and richest botanical gardens in the former Soviet Union). Among the tourist objectives of the city is also the Batumi Fortress, built by the Turks in the 15th century. XVII. Also at Batumi is the end of the Transcaucasian railway and the end of the Baku oil pipeline.

DAY 6: TRABZON – GIRESUN- SAMSUN / 325 km
Breakfast, we continue the route to Samsun, a city located between two river deltas flowing into the Black Sea, north of Turkey. To the west of the city, Kızılırmak (Red River), one of the longest rivers in Anatolia, produces a fertile delta, and to the east of the city, Yeşilırmak (Green River), a river that passes through several remarkable cities on the way to the sea, makes the same thing It is worth visiting the museums of Archeology and Ethnography and, right next door, the Atatürk Museum. DAY 7: SAMSUN – KASTAMONU – SAFRANBOLU / 400 km
Breakfast, departure to Safranbolu one of the rare cities that have been declared protected areas due to the traditional urban texture, wooden houses and monumental structures. Since 1994, the city has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Due to all these features, the city was decorated with the title “City of the World”. Safranbolu is a museum city where all the streets and corners keep traces of the past. There are Turkish baths and almost 600-year-old madrasas here. Visits: Clock Tower, Izzet Pasha Mosque, Crystal Terrace, Grand Bazaar. Dinner and accommodation at hotel in Safranbolu.
DAY 8: SAFRANBOLU – ISTANBUL / 400 km
After breakfast departure to Istanbul, accommodation at hotel in Istanbul.
DAY 9: ISTANBUL
After breakfast tour of the old town of Sultanahmet, visit; Topkapı Palace, former residence of the Ottoman sultans, today a museum; next to Hagia Sophia, the palace is the most visited place in Turkey; houses unique exhibits: the sword of the Psalmist David, the staff of Moses, part of the head and right hand of St. John the Baptist, the turban of Joseph and Abraham, the sword of St. Stephen the Great; St. Sophia Cathedral (Church of the Holy Wisdom) former Cathedral of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, then mosque, the first church was built in 325 by Constantine the Great the last Christian ceremony being held on May 29, 1453; Cistern Basilica, the Blue Mosque (the only mosque in the world with 6 minarets) the largest mosque in Istanbul, being a symbol of Turkey; the mosque is known as the Blue Mosque due to its 21,000 tiles; the place of the former Hippodrome, where it is now: the Fountain of Wilhem II, the Egyptian Obelisk, the Serpentine Column erected on the place of the forum of Constantine, the Column of Constantine Porphyrogenitus.
